Date

June–October for peak wildlife viewing, January–February is also good, while March–May is rainy with lush scenery.

Discover one of northern Tanzania’s hidden treasures — a land where ancient baobabs stand tall against the horizon and majestic elephants move in some of Africa’s largest herds. Though quieter than its renowned neighbors, Tarangire National Park holds a charm that is deeply wild and profoundly unforgettable.

The Tarangire River winds gracefully through golden savannas, drawing life from every corner during the dry season. Across its wetlands, a symphony of birdsong fills the air, while scattered acacia woodlands and sculpted termite mounds paint a landscape of striking beauty and contrast.

With Wima Adventures, a safari in Tarangire is more than just an encounter with elephants — it’s a journey into authentic wilderness, where rare species roam freely, the air hums with untold stories, and every game drive reveals the true rhythm of the wild.

Itinerary

Morning

  • Depart Arusha (around 7:00 AM) for a scenic drive through the Maasai Steppe toward Tarangire National Park (approx. 2–3 hours).

  • Enter the park and begin your first game drive. Watch for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and predators as you explore the savannahs dotted with iconic baobab trees.

Midday

  • Enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the park’s designated picnic sites, often with sweeping views of the Tarangire River.

  • Relax, take photos, and soak in the sounds of nature.

Afternoon

  • Continue with an extended game drive through different habitats — from riverine forests and wetlands to open plains rich with wildlife. Bird enthusiasts will especially enjoy the abundance of species here.

  • Spot large elephant herds, tree-climbing pythons, and perhaps even lions resting in the shade.

Evening

  • Exit the park by late afternoon (around 4:00–5:00 PM) and return to Arusha, arriving in the evening.
